and the Phillies are at the moment in a three way tie for first place in the National League East with the Mets and the Marlins as Florida have just been swept by the Dodgers as they lose to them this afternoon, 5-3. The Phils have a chance to be in first all by themselves as the Mets have the day off.
Tonight’s game from Citizens Bank Park will have the Phils starting Adam Eaton (0-0, 5.08) who is coming off another no-decision. His last start had him facing the Pirates in Pittsburgh on April 25, where he pitched for three and 2/3 innings, giving up five hits and three earned runs in a game that the Phils would eventually win 6-5. His career record against his former team, the Padres, is 1-0, with this being only his second start against them. Eaton’s opponent for tonight will be former-Phil Randy Wolf (2-1, 3.68), who will be making his first career start against the Phillies. Wolf’s last start was also on April 25 where he pitched against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He would last only four innings in that start, giving up five earned runs on seven hits in a losing effort, as the Diamondbacks defeated the Padres, 5-1. The lost came after winning his previous two starts, defeating the Colorado Rockies (6-0) on April 15 and the Diamonbacks (9-4) on April 20, giving up only four earned runs on seven hits in those two games. Will this be the game where Eaton finally get a win? I guess we’ll all find out tonight.
