Last night in the capital.

The Phillies (25-22) will conclude their trip to Nationals Park with a night game against the Nationals (20-27). The game will start at 7:10 pm Eastern. The Phils will send Jamie Moyer (3-3, 4.89) to the mound, who is coming off of a solid outing against the Toronto Blue Jays on May 16, where he went six and two-third innings, giving up only three earned runs on seven hits. He will be looking to improve his record while trying to help the Phils leave Washington, D.C. with a series win. The Nationals plan to counter with Matt Chico (0-5, 6.07), who is pitching in place of Shawn Hill, who has an ailing right elbow. Chico is coming out of the bullpen, where he was demoted earlier this season after losing five of his six starts, giving up four earned runs or more in all but one of the games he started. Since being placed in the bullpen, he has pitched well in six and a third innings, giving up only one earned run on six hits while his ERA dropped eighty points. He’ll be looking for his first victory of the season while hoping to continue the Phils’ hitting woes.

After their series with the Nationals, the Phils will continue their seven games road trip with a visit to Houston, where they will meet the Astros for a four games series in Minute Maid Park.

The Phils are trailing the first place Marlins by a game and a half, as the Marlins continue their three games series with the Diamondbacks. They are in a techincal tie for second with the Braves, trailing them by .001 percentage points, while they are a full game ahead of the Mets, as the Braves and Mets continue their four game series. The Phils hope that either their offense will get reignited, or that the starters will get better, so that they can keep pace with the Marlins, Braves and Mets.
