The Phillies (6-8, 3rd) start a three-games road trip with the Florida Marlins (11-4, 1st), who are presently mired in a three games losing streak. The first game of the three-games set will be played tonight at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Florida. It will start at 7:10 pm Eastern. The Phillies will send to the mound Brett Myers (1-1, 5.03), who is coming off a recent no-decision against the Padres on April 18, where he pitched a strong six and two-thirds innings, giving up just three runs on six hits and four walks, while striking out three, in the Phillies’ 8-5 lost. He will be shooting for his second straight win. His opponent will be Josh Johnson (2-0, 2.91), who is also coming off a no-decision, with his coming against the Nationals, also on April 18, as he pitched six innings, giving up six runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out six Nats, in the Marlins’ 9-6 extra-innings win. He will be trying for his third win of the season. The Phillies hope to improve their record at the expense of the fish, while hoping that the pitching staff, especially the starters, won’t be giving up any more gopher balls to opposing batters for a while. Meanwhile, the Phillies’ batters hope to come back from being only able to score two runs in the last eighteen innings while also hoping that their starters won’t force them to once again come from behind early in the ballgame.
