The Phils shutout the Nationals, as they positioned themselves to at least end the season at .500, as they win 2-0.

The Phils will end up with at least a  .500 record as they shutout the Nats, 2-0.

The Phils took the lead in the second as, with two men on, and with one man out, Darin Ruf hits a two-run triple, knocking in Carlos Ruiz, who had started the inning off with a walk, then moved up to second base on Dom Brown’s single, and Brown, who has just singled, giving the Phils a 2-0 lead. That would be all the runs they would need as Kyle Kendrick would pitch seven shutout innings, giving up just four hits and a walk, while the bullpen would combine for two shutout innings, with Phillippe Aumont collecting his second career save as he threw a 1-2-3 ninth.

Kyle Kendrick (11-12, 3.90) got the win as he threw seven shutout innings, giving up four scattered hits and a walk, while striking out four. Jeremy Horst collected his sixth hold of the season as he threw a third of an inning, striking out the only batter that he would face.
