The Braves took a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as, with a man on first, and with one man out, Freddie Freeman hits a two-run home run to right, his fifth home run of season, knocking in Andrelton Simmons, who had just singled. The Braves would add to their lead in the bottom of the fourth as, with two men on, and with nobody out, Freeman, who had started the inning off with a single, then moved up to second base on A.J. Pierzynski’s single, would score on third baseman Cody Asche’s fielding error on Jonny Gomes’ grounder, giving the Braves a 3-0 lead, while Pierzynski, who had earlier singled, would stop at second base, as Gomes would be safe at first on the error. The Braves then made it a 6-0 lead as Kelly Johnson busted the game wide open with a three-run home run, his sixth home run of the year, knocking in Pierzynski and Gomes. The Braves added to their lead in the bottom of the seventh as, with the bases loaded via a lead-off walk by Simmons, a walk by Freeman, moving Simmons up to second base, before both runners would move up a base on Pierzynski’s deep fly out to right field, 9-unassisted, and then a walk to Gomes, and with one man out, Simmons would walk home on a Kelly Johnson walk, making it a 7-0 Braves’ lead, while Freeman and Gomes would both move up a base, leaving the bases loaded. The Braves then made it an 8-0 lead as Jace Peterson hits an RBI single, knocking in Freeman, while moving both Gomes and Johnson up a base, as the bases remained loaded. The Braves then took a 9-0 lead as, after the Phils have made a pitching change, replacing Dustin McGowen with Justin de Fratus, Cameron Maybin hits an RBI single, scoring Gomes, while sending Johnson on to third base and Peterson up to second base, leaving the bases loaded. That would end up being the final score as Shelly Miller finished his complete game shutout by throwing a 1-2-3 ninth inning, striking out Ryan Howard, swinging, for the game’s final out.
