Hitting coach Milt Thompson said Saturday that he has been instructing the outfielder to slow his swing down.
“It’s been a while since he swung a bat,” Thompson said. “I don’t want him to get too anxious and end up hurting his injury.”
Thompson added that Werth would probably play in a rehabilitation assignment “in the next few days.”
Before his injury, Werth was in the Phillies’ starting outfield for 30 games. He enjoyed a career night on May 17, hitting three home runs and driving in eight runs, which tied team records for a nine-inning contest.
“He’ll be ready to go when he comes off the list,” manager Charlie Manuel said. (H/T Phillies.com)
It will sure be nice to have Werth back on the team, although the offense haven’t have any reason to be missing his bat in the line-up, or on the bench.
