The Marlins then took a 2-0 lead two batters later as, with a man still on third, and now with two men out, Marcell Ozuna hits an RBI double, scoring Yelich. The Phils got a run back in the bottom of the third as, with two men on, and with nobody out, Andres Blanco hits an RBI double, knocking in David Lough, who had started the inning off by reaching base on first baseman Justin Bour fielding error, then moving up to second base on Cesar Hernandez’s bunt single to pitcher Tom Koehler, making it a 2-1 Marlins’ lead, while sending Hernandez, who had earlier reached based on a bunt single, on to third base. The Phils would take the lead three batters later as, with the bases now loaded, after Maikel Franco had been intentionally walk, and with one man out, Cameron Rupp hits a two-run single, knocking in both Hernandez and Blanco, giving the Phils a 3-2 lead, while sending Franco up to second base. The Phils added to their lead in the bottom of the eighth as, with one man out, Tyler Goeddel hits a solo home, his first home run of the season, and of his career, giving the Phils a 4-2 lead. That would end up being the final score as Jeanmar Gomez recorded his sixteenth save of the season as he pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out Giancarlo Stanton, swinging, for the game’s final out.

Jeremy Hellickson (4-2, 3.99) got the win as he went six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk, while striking out four. David Hernandez received his tenth hold of the season as he pitched a 1-2-3 inning, striking out a batter. Hector Neris collected his eleventh hold of the year as he pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit. Jeanmar Gomez received his sixteenth save of the year as he threw a 1-2-3 inning, striking out a batter. But Phils’ starter Vince Velasquez would get out of the inning by getting Christian Yelich to ground out sharply to shortstop, 6-3, for the inning’s first out, forcing both runners to stay at their present bases, then striking out Giancarlo Stanton, swinging, for the inning’s second out, before ending the inning by getting Justin Bour to foul out to the third baseman for the inning’s final out. The Phils then took the lead in the bottom of the second as, with nobody out, Tommy Joseph hits a lead-off home run, his first home run of the season, and of his major league career, giving the Phils a 1-0 lead. The Phils would increase their lead in the bottom of the fifth as, with a man on third, and with two men out, Peter Bourjos hits an RBI single, knocking in Freddy Galvis, who had started the inning off with a double, then moved up to third base as, with one man out, pinch-hitter Emmanuel Burriss strikes out, swinging, 2-3, as the ball gets away from catcher Jeff Mathis, who then threw the ball to first baseman Bour for the putout, for the inning’s second out, giving the Phils a 2-0 lead. That would end up being the final score as Jeanmar Gomez knotted his fifteenth save of the season by getting Prado to ground out, 3-1, for the game’s final out.

Vince Velasquez (5-1, 2.42) got the win as he pitched five scoreless innings, giving up three hits and two walks, while striking out ten. Elvis Araujo collected his fourth hold of the season as he pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up a hit, while striking out a batter. Andrew Bailey received his third hold of the season as he threw a third of an inning, getting out the only man whom he would face. David Hernandez collected his ninth hold of the year as he pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two hits while striking out the side. Hector Neris received his tenth hold of the year as he pitched a 1-2-3 inning, striking out the side. Jeanmar Gomez collected his fifteenth save of the season as he pitched an inning, giving up a run on two hits and a walk. Wei-Yin Chen (3-2, 4.22) took the lost as he pitched six innings, giving up three runs, only two of which were earned, on six hits, while striking out six. Dustin McGowan pitched two scoreless innings, hitting a batter, while striking out three.

And the Phils give another reason why it looks to be a long season as they get goose egged by the Braves, 9-0.

The Braves took a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as, with a man on first, and with one man out, Freddie Freeman hits a two-run home run to right, his fifth home run of season, knocking in Andrelton Simmons, who had just singled. The Braves would add to their lead in the bottom of the fourth as, with two men on, and with nobody out, Freeman, who had started the inning off with a single, then moved up to second base on A.J. Pierzynski’s single, would score on third baseman Cody Asche’s fielding error on Jonny Gomes’ grounder, giving the Braves a 3-0 lead, while Pierzynski, who had earlier singled, would stop at second base, as Gomes would be safe at first on the error. The Braves then made it a 6-0 lead as Kelly Johnson busted the game wide open with a three-run home run, his sixth home run of the year, knocking in Pierzynski and Gomes. The Braves added to their lead in the bottom of the seventh as, with the bases loaded via a lead-off walk by Simmons, a walk by Freeman, moving Simmons up to second base, before both runners would move up a base on Pierzynski’s deep fly out to right field, 9-unassisted, and then a walk to Gomes, and with one man out, Simmons would walk home on a Kelly Johnson walk, making it a 7-0 Braves’ lead, while Freeman and Gomes would both move up a base, leaving the bases loaded. The Braves then made it an 8-0 lead as Jace Peterson hits an RBI single, knocking in Freeman, while moving both Gomes and Johnson up a base, as the bases remained loaded. The Braves then took a 9-0 lead as, after the Phils have made a pitching change, replacing Dustin McGowen with Justin de Fratus, Cameron Maybin hits an RBI single, scoring Gomes, while sending Johnson on to third base and Peterson up to second base, leaving the bases loaded. That would end up being the final score as Shelly Miller finished his complete game shutout by throwing a 1-2-3 ninth inning, striking out Ryan Howard, swinging, for the game’s final out.

Chad Billingsly (0-1, 9.00) took the lost as he pitched five innings, giving up six runs, only five of which were earned, on eight hits and a walk, while striking out two. The Marlins would tie the game up at one-all in their half of the seventh as, with a runner on second, and with one man out, Enrique Hernandez hits an RBI double, knocking in Garrett Jones, who had started the inning off with a double. The Phils retook the lead in the top of the eighth as, with two men on, and with one man out, Marlon Byrd hits an RBI single, knocking in Maikel Franco, who had started the inning off with a single, then moved up to second base on Chase Utley’s ground out, 4-3, giving the Phils a 2-1 lead, while sending up to second base Ryan Howard, who had just walked. That would end up being the final score as Jonathan Papelbon recorded his thirty-eighth save of the season as he pitched a scoreless ninth.

The Phils took the lead in the top of the fifth as, with the bases loaded, via singles by Darin Ruf, Dom Brown and Carlos Ruiz, and with nobody out, Freddy Galvis hits a two-run single, knocking in Ruf and Brown, giving the Phils a 2-1 lead, while sending Ruiz up to second base. The Phils took a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first as, with a runner on third, and with one man out, Chase Utley hits a two-run home run, his seventh home run of the season, knocking in Ben Revere, who had started the game off with a single, stole second base, then moved up to third base on Andres Blanco’s sacrifice bunt, 1-3, giving the Phils a 2-0 lead. The Phils added to their lead in the top of the third as, with a man on first, and with two men out, Ryan Howard hits an RBI single to deep right center field, knocking in Utley, who has just singled, giving the Phils a 3-0 lead. The Brewers would get back into the game in the bottom of the fifth as, with the bases loaded, via a lead-off single by Khris Davis, Mark Reynolds reaching base on a fielding error by third baseman Cody Asche, as Davis stops at second base, and a single by Jean Segura, with both runners moving up a base, and with nobody out, pinch hitter Jeff Bianchi hits a two-run single, knocking in Davis and Reynolds, making it a 3-2 Phils’ lead, before Segura is thrown out at third base, 9-5, for the inning’s first out, as Bianchi stays at first base. The Marlin increased their lead in the bottom of the seventh as, with one man on, and with two men out, Marcell Ozuna hits a two-run home run, his eighth home run of the season, knocking in Jeff Baker, who had started the inning off with a single, giving the Marlins a 3-0 lead. The Phils got a run back in the top of the eighth as, with runners on second and third, and with one man out, Ryan Howard hits a sacrifice fly, knocking in Jimmy Rollins, who had started the inning off with a walk, then stopped at third base on Chase Utley’s double, making it a 3-1 Marlins’ lead. The Phils then tied the game up at three-all as Marlon Byrd hits a two-run home run, his sixth home run of the year, knocking in Utley. The Marlins then tied the game up at two-all as Jones hits a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Stanton.
